I'm not quite sure what occasion would call for amplified earbuds, but apparently Andrew Beaumont decided to experiment with that possible need. I'm sure glad he did because the speakers he created are exquisite.

Having recently graduated from the University of Plymouth, Andrew Beaumont designed these speakers, or rather "passive amplifiers" as Gizmodo puts it, as part of his thesis project. Made out of ceramic and wood, earbuds attach on these amplifiers' back so that the sound can reverberate through it like a gramophone. Stats for Gramophone Amplifiers Trending: Older & Mild
