These street shoes are from the Alife Spring 2011 collection, and feature typographic menswear that any word nerd can appreciate. The line channels the old-school aesthetic of saddle shoes and deck shoes, but retains a modern edge. Some of the shoes feature Vibram soles for extra comfort.

Implications - One of the best ways a brand can distinguish itself as a tastemaker is by slightly (but brazenly) altering a traditional product. By adding a bit of edge to an established commodity, the company shows that it appreciates the conventional as well as the cutting-edge.
