E-commerce giant Alibaba has announced the launch of a new digital marketplace called 'Alibaba Auction.' The online platform will allow artists to sell their work as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to online collectors.
This block-chain based platform will feature a countless number of NFTs, which will be sold to the highest bidder via an auction system. Currently, 'Alibaba Auction' features a variety of highly sought-after NFT artworks including one-of-kind 'Star Wars' illustrations and a painting of the West Pearl Tower. Although these are up on the site right now, auctioning will not be open to the public until next month.
Alibaba enters the world of crypto and NFTs via an affiliate company called Ant Group, a financial technology service with experience in the space. According to Ant Group, the company already has experience successfully selling over 8,000 limited edition NFTs.
