Artists have been re-imagining classic characters for some time now, so it should come as no surprise that Alexey Kondakov has decided to bring figures from art history into the modern world. By juxtaposing the two, the artist manages to create a series that is not only interesting, but that will also attract younger generations into this world of classical paintings.

Appropriately titled Art History in Contemporary Life, Alexey Kondakov's series has Bouguereau’s Song of the Angels appearing in an empty subway car while a pair of men from Holbein’s famous The Ambassadors are transported to the table of a seedy bar. This is Colossal writes how it "creates an interesting and playful new context for artworks usually only encountered in museums and art history books."
