Where do you begin with Alexander McQueen’s Fall RTW collection for 2009? The term ‘over-the-top’ barely covers the designer’s wacky and extreme looks shown in Paris.

The metal filigree head armour is what hit me first. Reminiscent of Indian jewellery with red gems dripping over the eyes as lashes and silver bells decorating sleeves, this element of McQueen’s edgy trend-laden collection is warrior-inspired. The armour covers the entire uppermost parts of the body including the nose, mouth, neck and décolleté.

How ‘Ready-to-Wear’ this accessory is is left to be seen, but it sure is attention grabbing.
