The Halal Inn, in Oldham UK, is the UK’s only Islamic pub. Inside is everything you would expect from a pub except there is no booze… Of course in addition to the range of expected pub snacks there are also specific Asian foods and rather than pop songs Islamic songs are played over the radio. Other activities include snooker, darks and karam as well as Islamic themed pub nights. Great idea but personally no matter what religion you are I would find it hard to find a less appealing looking pub… It is owned by two business men who spotted a gap in the market;  "Muslims are a major consumer group and they need somewhere to relax and socialise. But the precense of alcohol means traditional pubs are off putting to those who want to follow strict Islamic rulings so this is the perfect place for them to come.

why do they even call it or consider it a pub? It's basically a game-place/ cafe. And I believe there must be lots of such places in any country that does not offer alcohol, even for non-religious reasons. |

I guess if you from the UK you totally understand this - it has all the "pub" elements. It is a bit like restaurant / cafe debate.
Most obviously if they call it a pub they get lots of PR pixie points. A cafe with no booze (bovvered) would not have been in every UK national newspaper today. |
