Akos Huber Explores Alternative Designs with the Chair of the Moment

Akos Huber, a Hungarian-born and Portland-based designer, explores alternative chair constructions with its fishing-inspired chair. Dubbed the Chair of the Moment, Huber incorporates cues from fishing structures that are cantilevered over the sea.
While the Chair of the Moment resembles more of an abstract work of art than a comfortable seat, the piece of furniture is fully functional. It features a modified pinwheel arrangement made up of seven angular white oak rods. Each rod is connected with dowel joints to form a closed circuit. A reciprocal frame is then created where each rod reclines on the previous one, making the structure highly stable. The backrest is made up of an adjustable ball joint that allows users to modify their position.
