Aisle 24 is a fully-automated grocery store chain based in Toronto that operates without the need for cashiers. Today, the innovative company announced the launch of its newest location, which comes equipped with surveillance, custom access controls, audio and video intercoms, remote control capabilities, and an AI-powered video streaming system, all of which allow the store to function employee-free.
Now, Aisle 24 shoppers will be able to use their smartphones to unlock the grocery store's doors, as well as to pay at self-checkouts located inside. In addition to offering consumers a seamless contact-free shopping experience, the store doubles as an analytics and inventory management solution for the company. Currently, Aisle 24 has opened 16 locations in Ontario and Quebec and, as per its announcement, plans to launch an additional 40 stores throughout Canada by the end of the year.
