 Incontinent Couture I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone decided to bring adult diaper couture to the fashion arena. In this case, it was the Japanese, who showed adult diaper fashions on the catwalk. After all, millions of people suffer from incontinence, so why not? Although incontinence is not a laughing matter, I still couldn’t help but get a chuckle when viewing adult diapers on typical runway models. Leave it up to the Japanese to come up with a unique way to deal with what is an extremely embarrassing problem.  More than 20 percent of the population is over 65, and the country is forecast to have the globe's largest number of centenarians — 1 million — by 2050, the U.N. says.
That means a booming market for adult diapers.
The Nikkei, Japan's leading business newspaper, conducted a survey this week that showed sales of adult diapers have more than doubled over the past decade, reaching an estimated 52.5 billion yen ($500 million) this year.
