The king and queen are placed at the top of each side of the board, while the remainder of the chess pieces cascade down according to rank. Ji Lee’s 3D chessboard sort of reminds me of an M.C. Escher drawing with its checkered board and hypnotic pattern of cube-shaped steps. What do you think?
