The top 2014 watches trends revealed that people are looking for understated luxury and integrated technology when it comes to picking out a timepiece.

Watches have always been a statement of luxury, but now that luxury is sleeker and more sophisticated than ever before. Whether ultra-modern or retro-inspired, timepieces feature a minimalist aesthetic that is not immediately obvious or overbearing on the wrist.

More importantly, watches are becoming more intelligent. People are no longer satisfied with a watch that merely tells the time. Thanks to an expansion in wearable tech, smartwatches are all the rage, and they are equipped with LCD screens, e-mailing capabilities and social notifications. However, the integration of technological features need not be intrusive to the watches' design. In fact, many hi-tech smartwatches are very discreet about what they can do.
