I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. I graduated from York University with a Bachelor or Arts with Honours in 2010. In the summer of 2012, I obtained a certificate in Broadcast Journalism from Seneca College as a student enrolled in the Summer Institute for Broadcast Journalism. In addition to field reporting, I know how to operate high definition cameras, write and produce television news casts, and have a strong proficiency in video editing using Final Cut Pro.
What is unique that's not in your bio?
I am a card-carrying nerd. I'm a big Star Wars and Transformers fan, and I like to read comic books. I know how to custom build personal computers and my favorite TV show is The Big Bang Theory.
What's your favorite accomplishment?
My favorite accomplishment would be graduating from the Summer Institute for Broadcast Journalism. My professors were accomplished in the industry and were very helpful in teaching us their craft. My classmates were the most interesting people to work and socialize with.
How do you define cool?
Cool is something that is unique, new and innovative. It could be something tangible like a new car model or a new idea such as a new style of architecture. It could also be a novel experience, something that I had no previous experience with.
What is your secret to uncovering trends?
Staying connected to people and paying attention to current affairs is important to uncovering trends. After a while, you start to get a sense of what people like and what they don't like in regards to everything from movies to politics.
What do you enjoy most about Trend Hunter?
I like the wide variety of topics and categories that Trend Hunter covers. Whether it's fashion, technology, culture, there is something interesting for everyone.
What is your favorite trend?
I'm into technology and politics.
What are your tips for writing a juicy post?
I know from volunteering as a writer at York University's the Excalibur that the first line is very important. It must be catchy and teasy enough to grab the reader's attention in order to entice them to read the rest of the piece.
How do you reset to be creative?
I clear my head to reset and I do this by getting some exercise, watching TV, getting something to eat or getting some sleep.
What inspires or excites you?
I gravitate towards unique experiences because I like to learn new things. If it gets me outside of my comfort zone, I take a deep breath, take a giant leap and hopefully I come out of it a bit more enlightened.
Predict something awesome for 2020?
By 2020, everyone will have a smart phone.
