Fur-Clad Superheroes

Naomi Campbell as Naughty Catwoman in Vogue Russia

The superhero trend is invading international fashion publications with Naomi Campbell posing as Catwoman in the December 2008 issue of Vogue Russia. The sizzling hot supermodel brings a whole new hotness to Catwoman by posing topless in one of the shots.

While Vogue US went for a tabloid-style cover for the December issue featuring Jennifer Aniston and a “what Angelina Jolie did was uncool” misquote, Vogue Russia is keeping it all about scandalous fashion with a fierce Naomi Campbell wearing white fur (meow, PETA.)

Vogue recently gave PETA the finger and this just flames the fire.

Two things seem to be very in fashion this season: fur and superheroes.

Superhero Fashion
The trend of incorporating superhero-inspired costumes into high fashion editorials presents an opportunity for fashion designers to create more daring and avant-garde designs.
Fur Fashion
The trend of fur being incorporated into fashion editorials can provide an opportunity for manufacturers to innovate and produce faux fur alternatives in response to growing concerns over animal welfare.
Controversial Fashion
The trend of incorporating controversies and shock-factor into fashion editorials presents an opportunity for brands to generate buzz and attention by creating thought-provoking content with social or political messaging.

Sectors Adopting This

Fashion
Fashion brands and designers can take advantage of the superhero and fur fashion trends, and incorporate them into their collections to cater to consumers who are always seeking new and exciting trends.
Animal Welfare
Animal welfare organizations can leverage the fur fashion trend as an opportunity to promote their advocacy for animal rights and encourage the fashion industry to adopt more ethical practices.
Media and Advertising
Media companies and advertising agencies can leverage the trend of controversial fashion editorials to create engaging content and campaigns that can generate buzz and increase brand awareness for their clients.
