Apple announced Apple CarPlay, which is an in-car infotainment system that allows motorists the ability to connect to their iOS device while in the vehicle. The new system is actually a rebranding of Apple’s ‘iOS in the Car, which will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show this March.
CarPlay will allow iPhone users to make calls, access their messages, listen to music or use the Maps in their car by using Siri, touch controls, or standard knobs, dials or even buttons in the car. You can also use third-party apps like Spotify, Beats Radio, Stitcher and iHeartRadio.
Apple decided to partner with Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo for Apple CarPlay. The CarPlay system will be used by car manufacturers like the BMW Group, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai Motor Company, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan Motor Company, Jaguar Land Rover and many more.
