The O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg is home of this coffee vending machine that is activated by people yawning. The machine was greated for a marketing campaign by Dutch cofee company Douwe Egberts and South African ad agency Direct.
The machine itself uses facial recognition software that has the ability to detect when a person in front of the machine is yawning. The machine features a high quality camera at the front and based on certain acitions will reward them with a hot cup of coffee. This marketing campaign also included a recorded video of persons stepping to the machine in a confused state -- and after yawning, would be dispensed a cup of joe. The coffee vending machine rewarded over 200 yawners during the campaign that morning.
