Rap music and old world paintings seem like an odd pair, however with these rap mashup paintings, this collaboration is a humorous way to explore both mediums.
Inspired by the 'Beyonce mashups' that became incredibly popular, fans took to Twitter to portray their own version of these pieces, except with rap lyrics from a variety of different artists. This collection is based off a lyric from a popular rap song, combined with a historical piece of artwork in the background. The artwork is used from different periods in art history, and the rap lyrics come from different people including Jay Z, Eminem and Wiz Khalifa. These pieces of rap mashup artwork prove that two completely unrelated art mediums can come together and create humorous and memorable artwork.
