The inventive and hilariously creative Toronto teen team of Mathew Ho and Asad Muhammad have launched a LEGO man into space. “Two weeks ago, Ho and Muhammad launched a homemade balloon carrying a Lego passenger and four cameras. It fell back down to Earth 97 minutes later with astonishing footage from an estimated 24 kilometres above sea level, three times the typical cruising altitude of a commercial aircraft,” explains the Toronto Star’s staff reporter Kate Allen.
Totalling only $400, these teens did this project on their own time and without assistance. Astrophysics professors at the University of Toronto were astonished by the “resourcefulness” of this teen duo and the gumption they had to pull it off. It will be interesting to see what this motivated pair have up their sleeves for future projects.
