Mathilde Roussel creates these falling human sculptures by growing grass sead on human shaped objects. When the grass has started growing enough to turn the dirt sculptures into grass ones she hangs them from the ceiling so that they look like they are falling.
Mathilde Roussel a designer from Paris. Her interesting techniquie is one that has yet to be sampled by any other artist. These human sculptures are made entirely from living grass and soil and recycled fabric.
For this particular project Mathilde Roussel is referencing Egyptian mythology. With the use of none human materials to transform objects into life like replicas the artist is signifying death and rebirth as well as death and fertility.
