As the Prairie Lamp demonstrates, a dimmer isn't the only feature that can enable you to adjust the degree of illumination that's emitted by a light. This lovely little fixture embodies a shapeshifting design that you can alter easily with one hand.
Three small bonnets made from injection-printed plastic have been hinged together and fastened to a lightbulb-bearing base. The end section integrates a translucent panel to diffuse the rays. Because each hood is slightly larger than the one beneath it, the upper one can rotate over the others so that the snail-like form completely retracts. This simple shift to Marco Guazzini's table lamp gradually redirects the beams of the Prairie Lamp from the tabletop towards the ceiling and everywhere along the arc in between.
