This quirky sculpture by artist Nguyen Manh Hung is breathtaking. The piece entitled 'Living Together in Paradise' is a three meter tall nostalgic re-imagining of the artist's tower-block childhood home in Vietnam, is being shown as part of the 7th Asian showcase triennial of contemporary art in Queensland, Australia.
The deceptive pictures released of the collection make the miniature diorama model look as if it is towering above the clouds like a futuristic utopian tower block. What's also incredible about this quirky sculpture is the attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship involved. The piece also references the traditional buildings of Vietnam, with cramped living spaces and a difficult economy. In one image from the series a jet-fighter plane delivers groceries to the inhabitants of the tower block in this utopian 'Paradise.'
