Kroger Rewards Gives Customers Discounts Based on Shopping History

Retailers are consistently coming up with new ways to entice and retain shoppers and now Kroger has created a unique personalized pricing method as part of its Kroger Rewards system. The new Kroger Rewards system will provide customers with personalized discounts based on each individual's shopping history.

To do this, the supermarket food chain has enlisted the help of dunnhumbyUSA, a consumer research company, to analyze shopping data amassed from its customers' loyalty cards. Doing so allows Kroger to offer customers specific coupons by email, but the customer doesn't have to print off the coupon; rather, the discount will already be added to the customer's Kroger Rewards card and automatically applied during checkout. This personalized way of providing discounts ensures that coupons are only given to customers who are more likely to use them.
