Queen Mary is back. Undoubtably Mary Katrantzou is the queen of placement prints and her creations rock the scene and astonish the audience season after season since 2009.
For her Fall Winter 12-13 collection, the designer combined sumptuous prints with kaleidoscopic trompe l'oeils assembling all sorts of iconic references: from vintage jewelry to tableware, from labyrinth gardens to yellow pencils, from typewriters keys to clothes hangers. All mixed up in a stile that quickly and clearly became her signature.
The result is once again stunning, and every piece deserves a meticolous close look-through to find and discover all the hidden details that seen from a distance may seem just "simple" ethnic patterns.
Every piece features his own specific print, placed to emphasize complex sartorial constructions and follow volumes, stressing out their geometric or fluid nature, in a triumph of textures and colours.
