Somewhere between blue and green, and six and seven, comes the ultra-cool fashion label BL33N. Their online shop sells unisex tees so rad that they could only have been conceived by Matthias Vriens-McGrath and his husband Donovan.
However, their shirts aren’t the only thing that makes this designer duo’s brand so cool. BL33N‘s website feautres the kind of underground fashion photography that will make you weak in the loins. Highly sexualized, but playful images of nude to semi-dressed, nubile bodies reaffirm that BL33N wants nothing more than for “gays, trans, and even straights” to be able to express their sexuality freely, and to feel comfortable in and out of the clothes they sell.
Their site is more of an ezine rather than just a shop, and even though they’re on a computer screen, you can almost feel the high gloss of the vibrant pics. The site functions as if you were browsing the editorials of your favorite fashion magazine. Which makes sense, since Matthias was one of the contributers behind DUTCH Magazine - a fashion publication that was famous for its provocative imagery during the 90s and 00s.
The site also features a link where you can download one bad ass song called “Werque it Wow” (not for virgin ears), and encourages its subscribers to collectively collaborate with it by submitting their own photos in various states of dress. If you are feeling like an exhibitionist, just remember to sport one of the label’s shirts in your pic. May I suggest one of their super cool monster designs depicted above.
