United Arab Emirates is set to join the list of countries utilizing nuclear energy as a power source.
ProLeads has issued an ongoing feasibility study, Abu Dhabi Nuclear Programme, on the construction of an estimated $4 billion nuclear reactor of the latest design that is targeted to be built in less than a decade.
UAE's growing demand for thousands of additional megawatts to supply its growing population and ambitious projects brought about the move for the proposed nuclear power plant. This is also a part of the country's ideas for an oil-free economy as UAE's oil is predicted to last 90 more years.
According to reports, the project is expected to be commissioned in December 2013.
