“Growing up in a family business where we manufacture furniture and decorative accessories overseas has given me the privilege of seeing the world and in doing so, made me a seasoned global traveler. I have been to Southeast Asia dozens of times, visiting Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and China. I have also travelled extensively throughout most of Western Europe, the United States, and Mexico. This has given me a great sensitivity and appreciation for foreign affairs, trade, and commerce.”
BIOGRAPHY
• Born in 1983 in New York and grew up in the furniture industry.
• Attended Roslyn High School in Roslyn, NY from 1997-2001, achieving top grades while participating in sports and other extracurricular activities.
• Studied Fine Art at the Huntington School of Fine Arts in Huntington, NY from 1998-2001.
• Spent a year in at the Universidad de Sevilla in Seville Spain, learning the language while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in the Fine Arts Program, in 2004.
• In 2005, received a B.F.A. in Industrial Design (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
• 2001-2005, Director of Sales at MPactcorp.com, Port Washington, NY.
• 2005-2006, National Sales Manager at The Phillips Collection, High Point, NC.
• 2006-2008, Creative Director at The Phillips Collection, High Point, NC.
• 2008-Present, Founder/President Jason Phillips Design, Greensboro, NC.
• 2008-Present, Vice President of The Phillips Collection, High Point, NC.
• Currently an active member of many furniture industry organizations, including the ASFD (American Society of Furniture Designers), the YLH (Young Leaders of Hospitality), and is a Board Member of the YHFP (Young Home Furnishings Professionals).
• A founding member of the SFC (Sustainable Furniture Council).
• The winner of numerous industry awards over the years -- most recently nominated as a finalist in the 20th Annual Pinnacle Awards.
