From Pursuing a Passionate Life to Redefining the Adult Age

By: Jaime Neely - May 15, 2014
This collection of speakers spotlights the importance of loving what you do in life -- no matter what that might be. It is important to fill your time -- be it with a job, a hobby or schooling -- with something about which you are truly passionate. These speeches demonstrate why the secret happiness is to do things that, simply, make you happen.

One of the most iconic speeches ever to be delivered is that presented to the 2005 graduating class of 2005 at Stanford University. During the speech, he shares the story of him being fired by Apple, but how it is was one of the best things to ever happen to him because it enabled him to become a beginner again. His most memorable piece of advice is that anything one ever does in life, should be because they love it.

The speech by Meg Jay takes a slightly different approach to the topic. She believes that far too many young adults throw away their 20s, relying on the idea that they will figure things and find their true paths when they turn 30. She encourages people to begin searching for what it is they loved to as soon as possible to set themselves up for a happy and successful life.
