The Yakisugi Speakers are High-Fidelity Crafted from Fire-Charred Solid Oak

with high-fidelity audio engineering through a collaboration between Studio Ambre and Phasis Audio Systems. Each speaker is carved from solid oak before undergoing a controlled burning process that creates a protective carbonized surface with a unique appearance. To maintain acoustic performance despite the timber's natural movement, the design incorporates a concealed aluminum enclosure that isolates the internal acoustic chamber from the charred exterior.

The carbonized surface is stabilized using a specially developed resin that preserves its texture while reinforcing the wood's structural integrity. Custom wooden chambers inspired by traditional Yakisugi kilns are used during the burning process and later repurposed as the product's packaging. With the combined handcrafted timber treatment with precision acoustic engineering, the speakers bridge collectible design and functional audio equipment while ensuring every piece carries its own distinct finish and character.
