'Walking the Block' is a series of raw photographs captured by Jo Ann Santangelo. The Texas-based photographer shot photos of the streetwalkers and escorts of Christopher Street in the West Village of New York City.

The photographs featured in 'Walking the Block' were shot in the evening and depict a variety of men and women wandering the iconic street dressed in some unusual and eccentric fashions. Christopher Street is known for its affiliation with the gay liberation movement as well as high volumes of escorting and prostitution. 'Walking the Street' depicts the neighborhood's bustling after dark activity through storytelling and uncensored photos. Jo Ann Santangelo does a fabulous job of portraying the intrigue and mystery that occurs after hours on this New York City street.
