Inspired by the pure electric Volvo XC40 Recharge, Volvo Cars Canada and Casca footwear collaborated on a pair of limited-edition pair of sneakers. The sneakers launched on World Car Free Day support a vision for a carbon-neutral future and communicate both parties' commitment to sustainable and circular design.
Like the XC40 Recharge, the sneaker was influenced by elements of Scandinavian design. 10% of each sole id made from recycled car tires and seven recycled bottles are used to craft the flexible upper knit portion of the shoes.
Casca's Lead Director and Co-Founder Kevin Reid says, "Through this collaboration we're also celebrating many design firsts – our first shared design, our fastest production to market, and new recycled materials we've never used before."
