Saba Italia presents its newest piece of furniture in the form of the Vela Sofa -- it is designed by product design studio Zanellato/Bortotto. The namesake references 'sail' as 'vela' translates to that in Italian. Specifically, the sofa nods to the unfurled sail, representing a blend between man and nature in the atmosphere of open waters.
The visual is minimal with a quilted upholstery that is carefully made with diagonal lining as a nod to the mainsail and jib, which is the smaller staysail on a boat. The shape of the sofa is curved throughout for a soft design language and notably, the fabric covers of the Vela can be entirely removed for easy cleaning when necessary.
