Microsoft Introduces a New AI Content Model Dubbed VASA-1

Microsoft's research team introduces an impressive AI tool dubbed VASA-1. It utilizes the technology to generate videos with only a single photograph and one audio sample. The name VASA-1 stands for Visual Affective Skills with Audio which delivers more than animating a face and audio syncing. It also integrates natural facial expressions and head movements that correlate to the provided audio to form a close-to-authentic video of someone speaking.

It uses the 'face latent space' model to create the movements. It understands the independent control and custom aspects of the generated video and breaks down the image's appearance as well as the facial expression and head pose. Currently, the tool is being used for educational purposes such as NPCs and virtual assistants.
