Chef Danny Bowien and Sam Mason of 'OddFellows - The Sandwich Shop' recently teamed up to produce an over-the-top dessert called the Ube-Ice-Cream Sandwich. With warmer weather on the way, many consumers are eager to get their hands on a delicious ice cream sandwich. Now there is a decadent new option for those who take ice cream seriously.
The Ube-Ice-Cream Sandwich is a gourmet treat created by Bowien and Mason. The star of the dish is the ube ice cream, which is made from the purple-hued tuberous root vegetable. The ice cream is made by roasting and pureeing the vegetable before combining it with milk powder and other sweeteners. The ice cream is then garnished with micro-shiso and Mason's oat-honey-nut granola. Finally, the ice cream is sealed inside a split brioche roll and drizzled with coconut dulce de leche.
