Comfort Food Mashups

Panera Turns Lasagna and PB&J Into New Menu Formats

Panera is introducing comfort food mashups for fall by transforming familiar dishes and nostalgic flavors into new fast-casual formats. The seasonal lineup includes a Three-Cheese Lasagna Soup made with Italian-style sausage, lasagna ribbon pasta, parmesan and a ricotta-tomato broth. A new PB&J Cookie similarly reworks a childhood staple as a peanut butter cookie filled with grape jelly. These additions join returning seasonal offerings such as Autumn Squash Soup, Ciabatta Dippers and the Chocolate Chip Bagel.

For Panera, combining recognizable flavors with unexpected formats provides novelty without requiring customers to become familiar with entirely new flavor profiles. The seasonal approach can encourage repeat visits as limited-time products rotate throughout the year, while returning favorites maintain familiarity. Offering the lineup across dine-in, delivery, drive-thru and Rapid Pick-Up also allows Panera to capitalize on seasonal demand across multiple ordering occasions.
