Ready-to-eat meal company Factor expanded its chef-crafted, dietitian-designed meals to more than 800 Target stores across 47 states, just nine months after debuting in more than 70 Midwest locations. The rollout follows a regional pilot in which Factor's recipes quickly became top sellers in their category, signaling to the company that it should accelerate its retail strategy.
The expansion also grew Factor's retail lineup from four to five recipes, including Roasted Garlic Chicken and a seasonal Butternut Squash & Sage Chicken Macaroni available through December.
As ready-made meal brands increasingly move from pure subscription models into physical retail, Factor's rapid Target expansion signals that convenience-focused food companies are meeting consumers across more everyday shopping occasions rather than solely operating as delivery services.

- Health-positioned ready meals are blending clinical credibility with speed, creating space for premium prepared foods that compete with both takeout and frozen dinners.
- Seasonal Prepared Meals
- Limited-time recipes in ready-to-eat formats bring restaurant-style menu rotation into grocery retail, encouraging repeat discovery within everyday shopping trips.
Who This Affects Most
- Prepared Foods
- Chef-crafted packaged meals are reshaping prepared food aisles by combining freshness, nutrition claims, and convenience in scalable retail formats.
- Grocery Retail
- Big-box retailers are becoming discovery channels for digitally native food brands, turning routine store visits into trial opportunities for emerging meal solutions.

- Delivery-first meal companies are extending beyond direct-to-consumer logistics, reflecting a shift toward hybrid distribution models that reduce reliance on subscriptions.
