TikTok is Currently Testing its New AI Chatbot Tako for Content

TikTok is currently in the early stages of testing out a new AI-powered chatbot dubbed Tako. It is developed for content discovery that helps recommend videos and responds to what users are watching on the app. TechCrunch reports that it is currently being tested in the Philippines and the company notes that “Tako is powered by a third-party chat assistant and is designed to help make it easier to discover entertaining and inspiring content on TikTok."
Tako is being prominently apparent on the app and a shortcut to the chatbot can be found on the right side along the main menu. In addition to this, the app is also experimenting with generative AI technology with avatars.
