When hiking or camping, smartphones are often a great resource for accessing online trail maps, GPS software and even survival guides—but how do you stay eco-friendly with a sustainable Smartphone in the wild?
Instructables.com has a solution. Using a thermoelectric module as a generator, the website found that energy from fires could be harnessed, passed through the charger and into the device, creating a sustainable Smartphone charger. The finished creation even includes a USB connector and can double as a light source in those dark forests. The charger is also very compact and easy to assemble, making it perfect for outdoor adventures.
While this project is meant for those more experienced with technology, the video tutorial and step-by-step process makes it possible for anyone to create their own fire-powered Smartphone charger.
