Cremer Group created Y-Base Blend as the first product on its FermBase platform. The standardized trace-element blend is designed for yeast fermentation with defined media, giving manufacturers a single ready-made mix instead of handling several salts separately.
The blend was developed from more than 50,000 possible combinations and refined through 3,300 experiments using different yeast strains. Cremer then selected the final formulation from nine high-performing candidates tested at the microliter scale for bioreactor use.
It is offered in sizes from 1 kg for lab trials to 25 kg units for pilot and scale-up work, plus several tonnes for industrial use. For fermentation companies, this means a single composition and specification across all volumes, supporting reproducibility, scaling, and procurement. It aligns with a growing push toward simpler, more controlled ingredient systems for biotech applications.
