Spotify AI Persona badges introduce new profile labels that identify artist accounts created through generative artificial intelligence rather than real individuals. Beginning August 11, artists can self-identify through the Spotify for Artists portal, while Spotify will also apply a "Likely AI Persona" badge using AI-assisted reviews and human evaluation. Accounts that receive the designation are notified and can appeal the decision if they believe the label was applied incorrectly.
The badges will begin appearing in mid-September on mobile devices across artist profiles, search results and playlist track listings. By default, music from labeled AI Personas will be excluded from Spotify's personalized recommendation features. The rollout expands the platform's transparency measures as it continues integrating artificial intelligence into creator and listener tools while introducing clearer identification for AI-generated music profiles.
