Researchers at Northwestern University creates the SmokeMon project that is made to help those quit tobacco. The SmokeMon is a necklace that is able to track heat instead of visuals when monitoring the wearer. The way that it functions starts when it tracks the habits of a person when smoking.
This includes the amount of smoke that is inhaled, the duration of puffs, when the cigarette is lit, the time between every hit, and more. The team refers to these variables as "smoking topography." After this, the data that is fathered is mapped to understand the harm and provide insight in relation to diseases. The next step is to help with quitting as the topography understands the level of addiction and when to involve a health coach.
