Timex Revives Ironman 8-Lap with Translucent Cases

Timex is updating its Ironman sports watch with anniversary editions that add translucent resin and color to a format favored by runners and triathletes. The lead piece is the 40th Anniversary Edition, a commemorative version with a translucent blue case, a red bezel, and an engraved caseback.

The watch keeps the eight-lap memory system and 100-meter water resistance that made the line practical for training. Japan gets three versions, including a light-blue model and a black-and-green option with an extra nylon strap. Preorders there opened on November 2, and sales begin on November 20.

In the U.S., the anniversary watch is priced at $129, while the UK listing is £105. $129 U.S. pricing keeps the nostalgia pitch in the sports-watch lane rather than the collector-luxury lane, and Japan-only colors add a divergence play for buyers who chase market-specific releases. A wider release date beyond those markets has not been set.
