RedOctane Games announced its establishment in August 2025 as a new developer dedicated exclusively to the rhythm game genre. Headquartered in Livermore, California, the studio’s mission centers on combining the heritage of classic rhythm titles with innovative mechanics to push the genre forward. RedOctane Games has secured backing from key industry figures and aims to leverage its focused mandate to deliver fresh experiences for both long-time fans and newcomers to rhythm gaming.
The studio is led by Simon Ebejer, whose prior roles include production director on the Guitar Hero series at Neversoft, studio head at Vicarious Visions, and vice president of operations at Blizzard Entertainment. Its development team comprises veterans responsible for creating and scaling landmark franchises such as Guitar Hero and DJ Hero, alongside emerging talent and community leaders. Brothers Charles and Kai Huang, original founders of the Guitar Hero franchise, will serve on a special advisory board, providing strategic guidance and genre expertise. RedOctane Games is currently in production on its debut rhythm title, with an official reveal slated for later in 2025.
