Project Aura is a remarkable bicycle lighting safety system developed by two undergraduate students Ethan Frier and Jonathan Otan. The industrial design students took the fatalities that occur on bicycles as their starting point. From there, the solution to night-time visibility was embedding LED lights in the rims of both wheels on a bicycle.
Project Aura is an excellent solution to night visibility for bike riders because the lights are installed on the bike itself, as opposed to on the bike rider; that makes it easier for motorists to see the bike and to see its movement. Project Aura is a functional and practical solution to visibility, but it also lends a nice aesthetic to the bike. It is a great solution for any bike rider.
