The Tesla Powerwall Brings Energy Savings to Homes and Businesses

The Powerwall is a home battery system for Tesla, and was unveiled by CEO Elon Musk. This stationary home battery offers 10 kWh of storage capacity for the relatively reasonable price of $3,500. A small version is also available for $3,000, and offers 7 kWh. Users can combine multiple units.

This battery is capable of working in temperatures ranging from -20 to 43 degrees Centigrade. Homes wired to the grid can store energy from the grid during low-rate periods and use it during peak hours when energy is more expensive.

In addition to offering increased convenience for users in the developed world, the Powerwall could one day be of great use in isolated parts of the world that don't have the greatest energy infrastructure.
