Faina, a Kiev-based design studio, offers a furniture and homeware collection dubbed POLYN, which consists of an array of eerie pieces that will add a mystical edge to any living space.
When creating the collection, Faina took inspiration from the sacred properties that Ukrainian housewives associated with wormwood, who often swept their entryways with brooms made from the plant to keep evil spirits at bay. As Faina explains, they also used it to fumigate their homes and barns to remove illnesses, and thought it had the power to keep envious people away.
Keeping this in mind, Faina crafts each piece with a dark aesthetic and supplies them with modern curves and hints of muted color, making the pieces as inviting as they are interesting.
