Playable Music Installations

The Points De Suspension Exhibition Explores Sound Through Movement

The points de suspension exhibition by French artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot transforms the former seventeenth-century convent at Frac Normandie into an immersive environment where sound, movement, and architecture interact. At its center is envolée, an installation featuring eight wooden swings suspended beneath a circular steel structure, each paired with an antique church bell that produces a distinct tone when activated. Visitors generate evolving compositions through their movements, creating soundscapes shaped by rhythm, participation, and chance.

The exhibition also includes plage, a 900-square-meter landscape of crushed glass that reflects light, architecture, and movement to resemble a shimmering body of water. Inside the galleries, cameraobscura projects an inverted live image of the courtyard, synchronizing the outdoor installation with its interior counterpart through sound and moving imagery. The points de suspension exhibition forms part of the Normandie Impressionniste Festival, inviting visitors to engage with public space through collective interaction and sensory exploration.
