These adorable bamboo characters help you take care of your plants because they secretly act as a plant monitor. Designer Dickson Chow created Plant Friends to take real-time measurements of humidity, soil moisture and temperature so you know when to water your plants.
The plant environment-monitoring system has two sub-systems consisting of wireless sensor nodes and a base station. The battery-operated sensor nodes look like cute characters: laser-cut bunnies, dinosaurs and robots made out of bamboo. Each one has a small circuit with sensors and a notifying LED light. This indicator light demonstrates low water levels and low battery. Each plant monitor is assigned to a different plant, and sends data to the base station. The base station also connects to an accompanying app.
