Portuguese supermarket chain Pingo Doce is stepping back into the e-commerce arena with the launch of its dedicated online grocery platform, Pingo Doce Online, now available in Lisbon and Porto.
The newly launched platform is designed to replicate the in-store experience as closely as possible. Shoppers can expect access to the same promotions and product assortment available in physical stores, along with full integration of the company’s popular loyalty program, O Meu Pingo Doce.
Pingo Doce is rolling out the service gradually, beginning with Portugal’s two largest cities and expanding to additional regions based on customer demand. To further enhance accessibility, the retailer plans to introduce nationwide click-and-collect options by this summer.
"Although the collaboration with Mercadão was a foray into online sales that allowed us to provide access to convenient shopping, we realized that providing our customers with a full online shopping experience at Pingo Doce would not be possible using third parties," explained Pingo Doce's Innovation and Digital Director, Francisco Soure.
