The Pianissimo Lamp from Discipline Promoted Sustainable Design

Designed by Lars Beller Fjetland, the Pianissimo Lamp from Italian retailer Discipline is a light fixture that fuses aesthetics with sustainable design practices. This suspension lamp is made using natural cork materials that are folded into a ribbed lamp shade element.

The lamp shade fuses the cork material with a painted, frosted glass element that allows for diffused mood lighting. Expressing the versatility of cork, designer Lars Beller Fjetland folds the material into geometric pleats that are similar to those created with a stiff fabric.

The Pianissimo Lamp is LED-lit, spreading direct and indirect through light through its glass plates. The lamps warm look is also available in a dark brown cork that is a better complement to rich and dark woods.
