Purina, through its 9Square Ventures corporate venturing group, has named PetPax Co. the grand prize winner of the 2026 Pet Care Innovation Prize. This honour follows a live pitch competition at Global Pet Expo, with the Boston-based startup securing an additional $25,000 cash award on top of the initial non-dilutive funding and mentorship already provided through the program.
PetPax Co. specializes in a product line called SupplaMelts, which uses a proprietary fast-dissolving oral thin-film delivery method to administer veterinarian-approved supplements to dogs in a form that bypasses stomach acid. This ensures improved absorption while reducing the stress associated with traditional pill or liquid dosing. The company’s offerings include formulations such as ZenMelts for calming support and DentalMelts for oral health.
Four other startups were recognized as part of the 2026 Pet Care Innovation Prize.
