The Pecan Street Project is a research and development organization located at the University of Texas at Austin using big data to study the patterns of energy usage and wastage in America. The Pecan Street Project revolves around the fact that most individuals are unlikely aware of the amount of energy they use in their daily lives.
Focused on accelerating innovation in regards to energy and water usage, the Pecan Street Project collects large amounts of data on per household usage, creating a database of what is considered the largest source of consumer energy data. The research and development lab is used to test real world solutions and prepares students for careers in which they can continue to tackle the two most pressing resource solutions.
